When we recognize that nothing we have really belongs to us, that we are mere stewards, our priorities begin to change. Our source and our everything come from God. When we are recognized as stewards rather than consumers, we become a bright neon sign in a dark world. We become stewards of God’s work through all that we have, not just finances, and we participate in his mission to reconcile the world to himself.
Scripture:
• 2 Corinthians 9:6-7 and Deuteronomy 8:17-18.
Reflection
• How does the knowledge that all you have belongs to God affect your life?
Practice:
• Take an inventory of all you have (money, possessions, talents, time, personality traits, job, etc.) and spend some time thanking God for those gifts. Offer those gifts back to Him by managing and giving them to His will and purpose, thus becoming a blessing.
