You are given the option. Do you want to follow Jesus? If you do, then realize there is a price you must pay—the price of your life. To deny yourself means you agree to no longer be the one who calls the shots. Instead, you let Jesus lead the way. Can you not only trust Jesus for your eternal destination but also trust Him for the things that relate to you being continually transformed into his likeness. In fact, Christ is always with us in this process.

• How do you respond to this statement by Dallas Willard: “The idea that you can trust Christ for the hereafter but have no intention to obey Him now is an illusion generated by a widespread unbelieving ‘Christian culture’”? What are the implications?
Practice:
• Think about where you are right now and your desire and intention to follow the example and teachings of Jesus? Are you willing to enter into a deeper journey with God? Take some time each day this week to consider the commitment God is calling you towards. If you have the time this week, find at least half a day to consider your intention to be a student of Jesus.
